NO KILN- NO WORRIES!
Wet Silver Metal Clay - fresh from the package - is amazing. Before it dries it can be shaped or formed in any way you want. As soon as it dries it is rigid and can be carved, filed, drilled and sanded. At this stage it is fragile and care should be taken although breakages are easily repaired. To fire a piece of Metal Clay, you must have a heat source that can reach the sintering temperature of silver. Sintering means heating but not melting the metal. The metal powder does not melt but becomes compact and hard and retains all of the detail that was present prior to firing. Metal Clay can be fired in a traditional jewellery kiln as well as by gas torch or on a gas stove top. Metal Clay shrinks slightly (up to 9% - Art Clay 650 Series - up to 12% PMC3) when fired and this must be factored into your design. Metal Clay - both Art Clay and PMC - offer Gold metal-clay products as well but the temperature and firing times required for Metal Clay Gold make it necessary to have a kiln. ART CLAY SILVER and PMC come in many forms, including Clay/Lump, Paste/Slip, Syringe, and Paper/Sheet Types. It is also possible to use certain Metal Clay products with Ceramics and Glass.

This economical Kiln has been tested for Metal Clay use, not only by ourselves but by the Japanese Manufacturers of Metal Clay. It has also been given a high approval rating by Silver Clay Instructors world wide.
The Prometheus Pro-1 Kiln reaches 1000°C and can be used for firing all types of Metal Clay, as well as fusing and slumping glass and enamelling. Its compact, bench top size and weight mean it can be transported or moved, around very easily. It includes a simple digital controller that allows the temperature to be raised to the correct level and then held there as long as required.
A small peep hole enables a view into the kiln during firing. The internal firing chamber is large enough to fire a number of jewellery pieces at a time but the use of kiln furniture to create a second level, would double this capacity. The Prometheus Pro-1 Kiln can be switched to show the temperature inside the kiln, even when it is not heating, which is very useful when slow cooling is required.
