Jewellery Quality
To find out what quality silver or gold you are wearing - check the following:
Firstly, on your piece look for a mark 925/999, or the words silver or sterling.
For a ring---on the inside of the band.
For a chain---located on the bolt ring.
For a pendant---found on the back of the pendant.
What do the marks mean?
SILVER
SV925 contains 92.5% silver & 7.5% copper, known as STERLING SILVER/ usual market type)
SV950 contains 95% silver & 5% copper
SV999 Art Clay Silver and PMC contains 99.9% silver after firing
SV1000 100% silver
GOLD
K10 contains 42% gold & 58% silver/copper
GOLD
K10 contains 42% gold & 58% silver/copper
K12 contains 50% gold & 50% silver/copper
K14 contains 58% gold & 42% silver/copper
K18 contains 75% gold & 25% silver/copper
K22 contains 91.7% gold & 8.3% silver and copper (usual market type)
Art Clay K22 contains 91.7% gold & 8.3% silver (Art Clay Silver contains NO copper)
K24 100% gold
Only silver pieces will tarnish. The best way to prevent tarnish is not to leave silver pieces out in the air and always keep your precious jewellery in a box.
